Pragnell earns Queen’s Award for Enterprise for sustained export growth

Pragnell has been recognised for the success of its growing luxury jewellery and watch business with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

The business, with showrooms in Stratford-upon-Avon and London’s Mayfair, was chosen for the gong in the International Trade category of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise due to “sustained export growth and a ten-part international strategy”.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the UK’s highest official award for British business performance, recognising and rewarding outstanding achievement by UK companies. They are presented each year by the Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.

The award comes after a plan instigated by managing director Charlie Pragnell in 2014 to increase international sales. The ten point plan included investing in training for existing staff, taking on new multi-lingual hires — now covering 15 languages across the team— expanding stock of rare gemstones and creating new product lines, introducing an annual exclusive client event, investing in marketing, extending opening hours and implementing new payment systems.

“This is a tremendous honour for us. We set out our ambitions to become an international brand in 2014, and with the help of a carefully designed international growth strategy, we’ve achieved some success. Our investment in our people and in new technology has been particularly effective in helping us become a leading exporter of the finest handcrafted British jewellery. I’m very proud of our team and am excited for the next chapter in the Pragnell story,” Mr Pragnell explains.

Pragnell’s largest showroom is in its home town of Stratford-upon-Avon, but it also opens a boutique selling Patek Philippe and Rolex on Mount Street in Mayfair last year, and also welcomes VIP clients at a townhouse on the nearby Berkeley Square.
