Pellikaan’s Hendrick Lorentz is top of the bill

Dutch watch brand Pellikaan Timing has developed its latest model in honour of Holland’s greatest physicist, naming it the Hendrik Lorentz.

Lorentz, a mentor of Albert Einstein and winner of the 1902 Noble Prize, most celebrated work involved ‘local time’ formulas which are depicted by the scale on the new watch’s dial.

The dial itself is made of pearled silver with matte black hands to maximise legibility and reflect the scientific instruments of Lorentz’s era.

Hubert Pellikaan, founder of Pellikaan, said: “Although we are renowned for producing the robust Flying Dutchman models I have always wanted to develop a sophisticated dress watch. This worked out well in my opinion with the new Hendrik Lorentz and it is a beautiful addition to the collection. Seeing a rising demand from our customers for a sophisticated dress watch I decided the time was right to introduce the Hendrik Lorentz.”

The three-hand watch is powered by a decorated Swiss automatic Soprod A10-2 movement which can be viewed through a sapphire caseback.

The Hendrick Lorentz is available through Pellikaan’s website for € 1,895.The brand currently only has retailers in Holland.
