Fresh from opening its new Beijing boutique two weeks ago, Swiss brand Oris has announced a new collection of motor sport watches called the Oris Williams.
Having been the Official Watch Partner of the famous Formula One team for 13 years, it is the first time that Oris has created an entire collection to bring the relationship with Williams to life.
The watches have been developed to reflect the speed, power and aerodynamics of Williams’ cars. There will be two base models in the collection – the 42mm stainless steel Oris Williams Day Date and the 44mm stainless steel Oris Williams Chronograph. Both models feature an all-new case shape, designed to mirror the silhouette of a Williams F1 car.
All over the watch there are little touches that remind the wearer of the Williams connection. The case tapers like the profile of the car, while the integrated lugs recall the shape of the nose cone. The crown has been engineered to resemble a wheel from the car’s gearbox, and the chronograph sub-dials all reset to a zero mark positioned at 8 o’clock, like the needles on dashboard instrument panels found on historic Williams racing cars.
Both models are powered by automatic movements visible through sapphire crystal case backs that reveal the Oris Red Rotor. Each watch will come with either an articulated stainless steel bracelet or a rubber strap.
The Oris Williams collection will be worn during the 2015 season by Williams F1 driver Valtteri Bottas, who finished fourth in the 2014 standings.
