Omega has wasted no time reminding the public that Sergio Garcia, who won 2017’s first golf major The Masters at the weekend, is a brand ambassador for the Swiss watchmaker.
Having beaten England’s Justin Rose in a dramatic play-off on Sunday night, the Spaniard was awarded the famous Green Jacket.
As he was presented the winner’s trophy, jacket and prize money, Mr Garcia was wearing an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black.
Omega retailers will be delighted to see that this week adverts have appeared in major UK newspapers that congratulate Mr Garcia alongside an image of the Seamaster.
Sergio Garcia has been associated with Omega since 2003, and the brand could be forgiven for wondering whether the highly successful golfer would ever win a Major tournament.
He has played in over 70 Majors during his career, without ever winning one.
Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of Omega, never lost faith. “Sergio has proven that great things come with time. We always believed in him. He is a player that shows his emotions and that win was a perfect display of who he is as a person. The final round was incredibly close and was such a great advertisement for the sport of golf. The fact that Sergio won and clinched his first Major title was the perfect way for it to end,” he said.
