Nuband fitness trackers, which are distributed by Dartmouth Brands in the UK, have added contactless payment technology to their devices.
The X-Pay model has been created in collaborataion with Barclaycard’s and uses bPay technology to allow people to pay for items costing less than £30 with a tap on a card reader.
Funds can be added to the X-Pay using Visa or Mastercard credit cards, or it can be linked directly to a registered debit card.
There are currently almost half a million points of sale in the UK that accept contactless payments.
As an added incentive for retailers to sell Nuband X-Pay in the new year, customers will be given a £10 credit for their bPay account if they register it before February 28.
The fitness tracker retails for around £70.
