Oris great barrier reef

No Barrier too great for Oris

Swiss watch brand Oris has teamed up with the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) to help protect the Great Barrier Reef.

The world’s largest reef system is in vital need of preservation, and Oris will be donating to the AMCS’s work, funded by sales of its limited edition diver’s watch, the Oris Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition II.

This watch is limited to just 2,000 pieces and is based on the Aquis, Oris’ enormously popular diver’s timepiece. Its design is inspired by the sea and focuses on functionality and legibility.

The dark sea-blue dial and coral yellow detailing on the watch mirror the colour palette of the Great Barrier Reef, while also creating a good contrast and therefore being easy to read in the murky conditions below the surface of the water.

Its diving credentials continue in the 46mm stainless steel case, which is water-resistant to 50 bar/500 metres. Also, the unidirectional rotating bezel’s inlay is made of black polished ceramic, a scratch-resistant, non-corrosive material that Oris first pioneered in its diver’s watches a number of years ago.

Finally, the Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition II features the Oris-developed safety anchor and quick-adjust sliding-sledge folding clasp on the rubber strap. These devices were developed in partnership with professional divers and make Oris diver’s watches more secure and easier to slip on and off over a wetsuit.

This limited edition diver’s watch, which is also helping priced CHF 2,100.00.
