Designer Paul Smith’s new collection Track for his eponymous fashion label is inspired by his personal love of cycling.
One of Smith’s earliest dreams was to become a professional rider, but was prevented from doing so due to an injury that he sustained at the age of 17.
Drawing on this love of cycling, the new Track collection borrows design elements from classic top watches used to keep time in the velodrome. The design of the watch dial is simple and clean, while subtle dots of colour are introduced at every hour index. Each hour is a different colour with the addition of a dark red second hand, referencing traditional stop-watch design.
Track is a slim watch with a three-hand movement and a 41mm case. The range features black and brown leather strap models and steel and Black PVD coated Milanese bracelets. The case metals are available in stainless steel, rose-gold plating and black PVD plating with a range of coloured dials, including; blue, silver and black.
