Mondaine launches first mechanical timepiece

Mondaine has launched its first hand-wound mechanical timepiece in a move that encompasses the brand’s Swiss-made history and adds a new facet to its classic railway clock design.

Its new Vintage watch continues the brand’s design based on the Swiss Railway Clock but houses a mechanical hand-wound movement and transparent case back.

The brand has dubbed it “a must-have addition to any watch connoisseur’s collection”, and it will be available in a limited run of just 400 pieces with a price tag of approximately £485.

Each timepiece will be covered by a two-year warranty and backed by the Mondaine International Service Network (MISO).

The 41mm watch houses an ETA 2801-2 self-winding calibre, has an open case back, sapphire crystal glass and a black leather strap. Each piece will also have a unique reference number.

The brand also launched its first alarm timepiece at BaselWorld in March, designed in reaction to the increasingly busy lifestyles of its customers. The Evo Alarm watch has a specially added alarm with a sound box positioned on the case back. It is also water resistant to 3 ATM and has a price tag of approximately £310.
