Martian victory

Martian smartwatches land in the UK

US smartwatch manufacturer Martian is now available to UK retailers for the first time following a distribution agreement with Reverse Logistics.

The Kickstarter-launched brand, which is working with Guess Watches on integrating smart device features into its watches, first appeared in 2012 and now offer a range of 12 analogue watches which receive notifications from Facebook, Twitter, text message, email and other.

Martian watches work with both Apple and Android smartphones via Bluetooth connection and allow wearers to make and receive calls, reply to messages and use Siri and Google search voice commands via the watch.

Damien Swift, head of business development at Reverse Logistic, said: “These watches were a completely different offering from any other smart watches we had looked at. Most smart watches we saw were nothing more than little digital screens, trying to look like watches. What we loved about the Martian watches is that they are real watches, with real hands.

“We’re delighted that Martian has chosen us to distribute these watches. They definitely combine the fashion element of a watch with the modern demand for smart technology, which is something very unique. All of the watch retailers we have demonstrated these to have been impressed with how well the watches are designed and how well they function. We’re excited about seeing them on the UK High Street soon.”

The Martian voice command smart watches are split into three models over a number of colours and are set to retail in the UK for between £199 and £299, depending on model and should be freely available on the High Street and online from November.
