Marcus Braybrook moves from watches into jewellery with role at Theo Fennell

Marcus Braybrook, former head of marketing and communications at Raymond Weil, has moved to fine jewellery business Theo Fennell as the brand’s head of marketing.

In a breathless posting on Facebook this week, Mr Braybrook said: “I am delighted to confirm that today I completed my first day as head of marketing at legendary jeweller Theo Fennell!!!!  A great day meeting the team and getting stuck in!!! Excited about tomorrow!!!”

Mr Braybrook was the de facto right hand man of Raymond Weil brand director Craig Leach, and the team was responsible for building an association between the watchmaker and legends of the music world.

In recent years, Raymond Weil has produced limited edition collections in collaboration with stars including The Beatles, Buddy Holly, David Bowie and AC/DC, and initiative that led to Mr Braybrook and Mr Leach collecting the WatchPro Award for marketing and merchandising team of the year in 2016.

Theo Fennell is also known as a jeweller to the stars, with a little black book of famous contacts for Mr Braybrook to work with.

The role will not be without challenges. Only last year, in May 2017, the business called in administrators, admitting at the time that the financial burden of certain fixed costs had weighed heavily on its balance sheet.

Two months later Theo Fennell secured the backing a private equity investor for a management buyout.

The company’s most recent set of published accounts, for the financial year ending January 2016, showed turnover of £9.6 million and an operating loss of £1.3 million.
