Loomes prize at international horse trials

British watchmaker Robert Loomes & Co has been announced as official timekeeper of the Brigstock International Horse Trials to be held at Rockingham Castle this weekend.

Robina Hill, managing director at Loomes and herself a keen equestrian, said: "British Eventing is about displaying the very best in horsemanship. It requires a combination of commitment, excellence and timing, which reflects exactly what we do in our watchmaking."

The Stamford-based company will be offering one of its hand-built watches as a prize for the rider completing the Open Cross-Country course in the ‘optimum’ time as well as providing timing services at the three-day event for the second year running.

Robert Loomes, technical director, said: "Philip Herbert has designed an outstanding international, course so superb riders will be taking their very best quadrupeds around it. This is a superb opportunity for us to showcase the very best in British watchmaking in front of top international competition."

The course design runs over the Rockingham escarpment, giving views of the Rutland countryside with the backdrop of Rockingham Castle.

Event organiser Lizzie Saunders-Watson said: "Events such as ours are hugely enhanced by the involvement of sponsorship and the offer that Robert has generously contributed is a wonderful prize. I have no doubt that a watch of this quality will be treasured and enjoyed by the recipient for many years to come.”
