Long-term employee named as Beaverbrooks CEO

Beaverbrooks the Jewellers has announced the appointment of long-term employee Anna Blackburn as CEO, replacing Daniel Brown who left the company earlier this month

Blackburn is the first CEO to have come from outside the Beaverbrooks family.

She has worked at multiple watch and jewellery retailer Beaverbrooks for 15 years and has extensive industry knowledge. She has been credited with playing an integral role in driving the business forward and being particularly proactive in maintaining a focus on customers and her colleagues.

The new CEO joined Beaverbrooks straight from Manchester University in 1998, starting in the business as part of the sales team. She moved quickly into management before being promoted in 2003 to regional manager of Scotland. In 2008, Blackburn was appointed head of office operations where she oversaw the team in the office, giving her an in-depth understanding of the business. She was then promoted in 2012, to head of retail, overseeing 65 stores across the UK.

Beaverbrooks chairman Mark Adlestone said: “I am delighted to announce Anna Blackburn’s appointment as our new CEO. Anna understands both our stores and our people. She has a real passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. I am personally excited to see her undertake this new position and drive the business forward.”

Talking about her promotion, Blackburn commented: “I’ve been a part of Beaverbrooks for my entire career and believe whole heartedly in our business and our people. I’m thrilled to take the position of CEO and want to build on the fantastic company we have, ultimately creating exceptional experiences for our customers.”

A first for the company, in its 94 year history, Anna is the only CEO to have come from outside the Beaverbrooks family. She will be working closely with Adlestone to shape the future and vision of the retail business.

Brown left the business this month after more than 18 years working for the family-run company, of which he is a fourth-generation member. He previously worked as operations director at the 64-store chain before becoming chief executive in March 2012.
