Laings flagship in Glasgow to add 50% more retail space in major refurbishment

Laings is investing in a major expansion of its flagship store in Glasgow’s Argyll Arcade.

In plans shown to WatchPro by managing director Joe Walsh, the ground floor of the large corner unit will expand its footprint as its frontage is brought into alignment with neighbouring units.

The front of the store and its windows, which currently lose space to inefficient storage, will be re-configured to open up additional floor space.

Patek Philippe and Rolex shop-in-shops will both be enlarged. They will be exactly the same size as each other, Mr Walsh promised.

In the Big Interview to be published in the March edition of WatchPro, Mr Walsh describes the dramatic deal he struck last year to re-unite the two businesses owned by his father-in-law Stuart Laing and his brother Michael Laing, and how the business will now use its scale to become a nationwide force to be reckoned with.
