Junghans turns back the clock to honour architectural masterpiece with special edition

German watch brand Junghans has gazed into the past in order to pull inspiration for its latest innovation in watchmaking.

For its new edition, the limited Meister Chronoscope Terrassenbau, the timepiece creator behind the Meister Manual Stainless Steel, looked to an architectural masterpiece, a terrace building in Schramberg that played an integral role in the company’s history.

For decades, the building was the centrepiece of the Junghans factory. Numerous calibres were developed in Schramberg, while components were manufactured in the building to the front of the site, with calibre and watch assembly in the terrace building. The top floor was reserved for work that called for high concentration, including the assembly and regulation of chronometers.

Junghans is marking the building’s centenary with the launch of a limited edition range. The Meister Chronoscope Terrassenbau, which is restricted to 100 pieces, features an 18-kt. gold case, champagne-coloured and three matt silver totalisers.

The stainless steel version is limited to 1,000 watches and has a matt silver-plated dial.

Both models incorporate distinctive elements of the industrial monument in Schramberg into their design, including the minute track of the dial reflects the meandering design of the wall decorations in the terrace building, whilst the dark green of the wall tiles in the stairways can be found in the alligator leather strap.
