Junghans scoops Austrian watch award

German watch maker Junghans has won a prize at the Chrono Awards in Austria.

Chrono is the only watch award in Austria that uses price points rather than style to form categories. There are six categories and the prize is judged by readers of the Austrian magazines Format and Trend, who selected their favourite models from 111 entries this year.

The 151-year-old luxury watchmaker was awarded first place in the success category for watches up to €10,000. The winning watch, a limited model Junghans Meister Chronoscope Gold, is made of 18ct pink gold.

Matthias Stotz, managing director of watchmaking at Junghans, said: "We are especially pleased that the Junghans Meister range has been received so enthusiastically, performing superbly for the second year in a row. The degree of approval and the placement in the top positions reinforces our belief that we have chosen the right course to follow with the Meister collection."

Last year the Meister Automatic model took first prize in the trendsetter category.
