Junghans clocks up the miles on its Meister Driver Day Date

German watchmaker Junghans can trace its love and association with the motoring industry back to the late 19th century, which explains why most of its key models have an automotive aesthetic.

The company’s latest Meister Driver Day Date is no exception, with its most notable design feature, a day/date display at 12 o’clock, looking like a milometer from a traditional car’s dashboard.

The exposed rotating columns of the day and date display are printed in-house at Junghans according to references to historic automobiles.

The colour scheme of the timepiece is also oriented on the tachometers of the 1930s and the dial also draws inspiration from the polished paintwork of vintage cars.

“With a diameter of 40 mm, the new Meister Driver Day Date is a three-handed watch with an independent character,” the company says.

Prices range from £1275-1375.
