Watch brand Jaquet Droz is to preview a new tourbillon at Baselworld, designed for women and to showcase mechanics and adornments.
The Grande Seconde Tourbillon Mother-of-Pearl model takes influence from the Enlightenment period but with a modern twist.
A mother-of-pearl dial sits inside a red gold 39mm case set with brilliant-cut diamonds. Roman numeral indexes for hours and minutes are designed to be a “touch of classicism” that accentuate the blued-steel hands.
The tourbillon has a white satin strap and the watch marks the first time Jaquet Droz has given it a silicon balance spring and pallet horns.
Flexible yet sturdy silicon is rust-proof as well as insensitive to magnetism, non-extreme temperature changes and atmospheric pressure.
The Grande Seconde Tourbillon Mother-of-Pearl has a seven day power reserve and comes in a limited edition of 88 pieces.
