Luxury fine watch brand Jaquet Droz has created a new minimal timepiece with a solid piece of onyx as its dial and not a minute or second hand in sight.
The Grande Heure Onyx has been described by the brand as “the purest of watchmaking tradition” and a timepiece of unprecedented elegance.
The brand has said that it has taken a revolutionary step in luxury watchmaking with the Grand Heure Onyx, which featured a disc of onyx, cut “with great care” by a master dial makes at the Jaquet Droz manufactory.
It has also removed the minute and second hands, with a single fine hand marking out the hours and minutes across 24-hours of Arabic numerals, making it around the dial just once a day.
The watch will be available from next month, and within the 43mm case, houses a Jaquet Droz 24JD53 self-winding mechanical movement, with heavy oscillating weight. It has a power reserve of 68 hours and each piece is engraved with a serial number on the case back.
