Jaeger-LeCoultre set to celebrate 85th anniversary of Reverso

In 2016 Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates the 85th anniversary of the first Reverso, one of only a handful of watches that truly deserves to be described as iconic.

Three new lines of the Reverso will be introduced at SIHH, the Reverso Classic, the Reverso Tribute and the Reverso One.

The Classic collection will see three clear time-only small, medium and large sizes introduced. The small model will feature a quartz movement while the other two see an automatic movement introduced in the name of contemporary convenience.

These three pieces will be joined by the Classic Large Duo, a watch with a 24-hour home time dial and a second dial on the reverse, displaying a second, 12-hour local timezone. Both dials are driven by the same movement.

A more feminine version, the Duetto, has also been created for women.

The Tribute collection serves as home to more complicated Reverso pieces. The Tribute Duo presents two different sides of the Reverso with a choice of white or blue dials designed to suit any occasion while the Tribute Calendar presents a Complete Calendar on one dial with a Night and Day dial on the second.

Originally created in 1931 for polo players, the Reverso features a ‘flippable’ watch head so that the dial and crystal can be hidden to protect them from the impacts of the sport.

In the years since, the double-sided of the Reverso has seen its exposed caseback serve as a blank canvas for decorative personalisation such as engraving as well as the perfect location for a second watch dial.
