IWC Schaffhausen has launched its own classic car racing team that will see some of the world’s most successful drivers from the past and present driving its car.
The IWC Racing Team will compete in selected classic car races in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Gullwing”.
The sports car was manufactured by Daimler-Benz as a road-ready version of the 300 SL race car between 1954 and 1957, the same time as IWC built its first Ingenieur watches.
The iconic sports car will be driven alternately by David Coulthard, Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, Jochen Mass, Maro Engel, and Carmen Jordá.
The first outing for the team was at the 76th Members’ Meeting at Goodwood, where IWC also launched a new Ingeneur as the official timepiece of the team.
The Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition is a 44mm chronograph with a production of 176 pieces.
