IN VIDEO: Bremont victorious at Jaguar Mini Miglia

Bremont founders Nick and Giles English joined partners Jaguar on the inaugural Mini Miglia shakedown event in Scotland.

Jaguar Heritage organised the 100-mile event to prepare drivers and cars for next week’s Mille Miglia in Italy, the world’s most famous classic car event.

Jaguar Heritage is entering some of the most important sports and touring models from its collection in the Mille Miglia, a gruelling 1,000 mile staged race around Italy.

Drivers included Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum, TV chef James Martin – who partnered with Nick English in a ‘Long Nose’ D Type – and Supermodel David Gandy. Giles drove with adventurer Charley Boorman in a Mk VII.

The route was devised by the Caledonian Classic & Historic Motor Sports Club (CCHMSC). The cars travelled from Loch Lomond northbound on the A83 towards Inveraray Castle and then south along The Rest And Be Thankful – part of the original British Hill Climb Championship. Finally, the route looped back around towards Loch Lomond and the finish line.

Giles English said: “It is a real honour to have been invited by Jaguar to take part in the Mille Miglia as part of their team. Bremont is of course launching its Jaguar watch range this year so it’s a really lovely extension of the partnership and incredibly special for us to be able to drive such beautiful vintage cars in this iconic and historic race.”

The D-type driven for the first time in anger by James Martin and Nick English was awarded first place in the ‘Mini Miglia’ regularity trial, followed by the Mk VII of Charley Boorman and Giles English. The cars and drivers will next meet on the start line in Brescia on May 14th, ready to tackle 1,000-miles through Italy on the 2015 Mille Migla.
