IN PICS: Piaget bowls in with revamped Polo collection

Piaget has revisited its seventies playboy favourite, the Polo, launching the new watch in its spiritual home of New York last night.

Piaget brand ambassador Ryan Reynolds and Piaget chief executive officer Philippe Leopold-Metzger launched the Polo S in Brooklyn alongside eight ‘game-changing’ men.

These friends of the brand included actor and director, Michael B. Jordan, French master chef, Jean-François Piège, Chinese superstar and singer, Hu Ge, Belgian tennis star, David Goffin, Japanese musician, singer, songwriter and actor Miyavi, Swiss best-selling novelist, Joël Dicker, British polo player, Malcolm Borwick, and Emirati artist and entrepreneur, Mohammed Sultan Al Habtoor.

The Polo S collection features five stainless steel watches with new in-house automatic movements. Piaget’s shape-within-a-shape concept sees a cushion-shaped dial within a round 42mm case.

Piaget adheres to the sports luxe rules with an alternating polished and satin-finished bracelet.

The Piaget Polo S – available with blue, silvered or slate grey dials – features the 1110P movement, visible through a sapphire caseback, while the Piaget Polo S Chronograph – available with silvered or blue dials – is equipped with a 1160P movement. Both movements have been developed specifically for the Polo S.

The Piaget Polo S will go on sale at £7,850 while the chronograph will cost £10,500.

In the year that Patek Philippe celebrates the 40th anniversary of its Nautilus, others luxury brands seem intent to fight Patek for every point of market share with Cartier (Drive), Vacheron Constantin (Overseas), Girard-Perregaux (Laureato) and now Piaget ramping up their own offerings.
