Arvind agonised over his choice of location for this photograph for the Hot 100. Should he head to the beautiful Bradgate Park in Leicestershire, his favourite spot for a long walk? Or would a picture in his workshop say more about his life’s passions?
The answer will be no surprise to those that know Arvind. “We decided to go with my workshop setting, as it is where I spend most of my time! I really enjoy the work that I do, and would hope that this level of happiness would be portrayed through the photos,” he explains.
Arvind’s wife also plays an instrumental role in the success of Locker, Hull & Thornton, so this is a family where the boundary between work and life is hard to define.
This family passion has been crucial to the exceptional year the company has enjoyed, and has laid the foundation for a dramatic leap forward for the business later this year. Last year LHT was awarded the Victorinox International Service Centre of the Year Platinum award, beating competition from service centres in 60 countries.
“This award has given me and all of my staff the ambition and drive to go further. We don’t want to stop at one award, we want to ensure that we continue to offer the highest possible standard of service, thus allowing us to become a dominant force in the watch service market, with a widened portfolio of Swiss brands, hopefully leading to many more awards,” Arvind says.
LHT is already the after sales service centre for Victorinox Swiss Army, Mondaine, Luminox, Cuervo Y Sobrinos and Nixon. In addition it is an Omega, Rado, Longines and Tissot certified service centre and Rolex accredited watch repairer.
The growing list of brands is forcing LHT to move to bigger premises this year, which in turn should make it attractive to even more brands. “This year, we will be moving into our new state of the art workshop in Leicester,” Arvind reveals. “Moving to much larger premises allows us to install modern equipment and continue to offer the same level of service,” he explains.
