There’s certainly no shortage of enthusiasm at Elliot Brown Watches, thanks to the boundless energy of Ian Elliot and the sheer tenacity of Alex Brown, who together established the brand in 2013.

It’s a partnership built for success. Alex brings attention to detail and creative thinking to the table – as well as a pride in his work that was instilled in him by his father – while Ian works instinctually and tirelessly, drawing inspiration from top athletes. “That spirit of never giving up until you succeed has definitely helped my business career,” he explains.

This positive and energetic attitude is certainly reflected in their greatest achievements of the past 12 months: being commissioned to build a watch for the Special Boat Service Association (SBSA) charity, and becoming the official time keeper of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Both lovers of the outdoors, Alex and Ian have learned to stay agile in business as well as leisure activities, and to remain open to unexpected opportunities.

When asked about their key business objectives for the next one to five years, Ian responds assuredly: “We will be doing more of what we love and less of what we don’t, and trusting our instincts to create watches from the heart. It’s also important that we say ‘no’ to the wrong opportunities so that we never ‘sell out’.

“Lastly,” he adds with a smile, “we want to be confident in employing people who are better at what they do than we are!”
