HOT 100 2014: Kyron Keogh and Grant Mitchell, ROX

Kyron Keogh and Grant Mitchell have had their fair share of sleepless nights over the past year; opening two new stores simultaneously in unfamiliar cities can do that to you.

Yes, 2013 marked a long-awaited milestone for the Scottish entrepreneurs as they opened their first stores south of the border, with the Rox insignia bringing fresh glamour to high streets in Newcastle and Leeds.

“Opening two stores back-to-back was a logistical headache, but our team pulled out the stops to make sure both shops opened on time and on budget,” says Kyron, who adds that he and Grant are already planning more multi-brand store openings in England in 2015.

As Rox has continued to expand, watches have become an even more important facet of its business. In the past 12 months the retailer has added Parmigiani Fleurier, Ulysee Nardin, Bell & Ross, Baume & Mercier and Bremont to its line up, to name a few.
Another key signing for the group was Breguet at its Edinburgh store. “It’s a real coup to have secured Breguet exclusively in Scotland; we had been in talks with the brand for some time,” says Kyron.

The development of Rox’s watch offer has had a positive impact on the whole business by increasing its average transaction value, and it is an area the retailer will continue to cultivate.
“We are seeing a big shift in the watch market at the moment; people are investing in premium watches and we plan to grow our luxury watch portfolio further moving into 2015,” confirms Kyron.
