HIGHLY COMMENDED: Smartwatches of the Year, Frederique Constant Ladies’ Horological Smartwatch 2R

It has been over a year since Frederique Constant introduced its first Horological Smartwatch.

In that time, the company has been bought by Citizen Group, although MMT, the Frederique Constant subsidiary that produces the smartwatch technology that goes into the watches was not bought and is now going it alone.

MMT aims to be the movement manufacturer of choice for any watch brand that wants to add smart features to their timepieces.

For now, Frederique Constant is the primary customer for these connected movements, and has just moved to a second generation of integrated circuits including the MMT-281, which is small enough to fit into a female-friendly 34mm case while still maintaining 2 years of battery life (a significant achievement because batteries are the bulkiest component).

Prices for ladies pieces start at £720, increasing to £ 1,260 for a rose gold plated model with diamonds.
