Hermès first created the Cape Cod watch in 1991. The timepiece’s design came from an idea to cut the brand’s anchor chair motif in half and incorporate it into a case and lug combination that presents as a square dial gripped within a rectangle.
The style caught on, and is being re-imagined this year in a collection that includes models with a mirror-like rhodium-plated dial coated with a precious translucent lacquer. It is available in large or small versions with a single or double tour Milanese mesh bracelet.
Two other variations include a large model with a single or double tour étoupe or Malta blue strap. The dial of the first features a black gold treatment, while the second is blue lacquered with the divided anchor chain motif.
