Hearst works with WatchPro Awards to celebrate success of Britain’s watch industry

Hearst is one of the world’s most prestigious, influential and innovative media companies, responsible for titles including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Runner’s World and Net Doctor.

The watch industry is a key category for Hearst, both in terms of consumer interest and commercial value, which is why the company is working with WatchPro this year to become headline sponsor of the 2017 WatchPro Awards.

“We have strong working relationships within the sector and want to support it and help it grow,” says Duncan Chater, chief brand officer, Luxury, Young Women, Fitness & Health, for Hearst UK.

“We are delighted to be sponsoring the WatchPro Awards 2017. WatchPro is the most important trade vehicle for the industry, and the Awards recognise all the hard work and talent that makes it thrive,” he adds.

Hearst UK goes beyond regular coverage online and in its magazines of what is happening in the world of watches, it has also created a number of special publications, events and research reports.

“Hearst puts a huge amount of effort into promoting watches and watch brands to our readers, because we know that they love watches. In addition to covering timepieces in our portfolio of magazines, we have launched Synchronised, a Men’s Health supplement offering an A-Z of horology to help readers pick the perfect watch. We also launched Esquire’s stand-alone magazine, The Big Watch Book, which keeps readers up-to-date with all the new trends in contemporary watch-keeping,” Mr Chater describes.

“In addition, we run our annual watch survey, which is the biggest in UK, and provides a definitive list of consumer insight into the most desired watch brands,” he adds.

Watch brands and retailers are now embracing a broad mix of media, and continue to favour working with brands like Hearst UK’s magazines because of the expertise of their editors that translates into trust from their highly prized readers.

Working with the WatchPro Awards is just one way of Hearst showing how much it values its relationships with watch brands and retailers.

“It’s incredibly important to celebrate the success of the watch sector. The watch industry is embracing of magazine media and we are proud to be a part of it. The ceremony is a great evening and a fantastic opportunity to bring everyone together under the same roof,” Mr Chater says.

The 2017 WatchPro Awards take place on November 22 at 8 Northumberland near Trafalgar Square in London.
