Grand Seiko returns to SalonQP next month

Grand Seiko will be exhibiting at next month’s SalonQP for the first time in several years, showing an eagerly anticipated anniversary watch and several historical pieces.

Seiko’s haute horlogerie brand will be bringing its 55th Anniversary Spring Drive Chronograph with sumptuous blue dial to the show, held on November 12-14, as well as the international Grand Seiko collection.

The 55th Anniversary Spring Drive Chronograph SBGC013 is limited to just 400 pieces, features Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive 9R96 calibre, a GMT hand and is the first Grand Seiko to use a ceramic bezel.

A master watchmaker will also be flying in from Grand Seiko HQ in Japan to demonstrate the assembly of the brand’s famed high beat mechanical movement.

The Japanese watch manufacturer has also loaned SalonQP’s ‘Inside a Second’ exhibition, curated by a Seiko 6139 chronograph from 1969, which lays claim to being the first automatic chronograph to go on sale.
