Glashutte Original scoops Golden Balance for world timer

Glashütte Original’s technical masterpiece, the Senator Cosmopolite, has scooped a Golden Balance award for watches worth more than 25,000 Euros.

The Swatch Group-owned Glashutte manufacture fought off competition from the likes of A Lange & Sohne, Breguet and Breitling to win the coveted Goldene Unruh award for its simplified world timer.

The Golden Balance awards were presented in for the 18th time in Germany last week. Readers of Focus, Focus Online and Uhren-Magazin were presented with a choice of 354 watches and asked to vote for their favourite in five price categories.

More than 21,000 ballots were cast between November to January.

The automatic Senator Cosmopolite, which was released in 2015, is able to display the time of day in two time zones at once, while taking Daylight Saving and Standard Time into account. The time zone ring presents 37 world time zones from which to choose, each represented by an official IATA location code.
