Frederique Constant doubles distribution in six months since Citizen took control

The Frederique Constant Hybrid Mechanical connected watch was a key launch at Baselworld.

Frederique Constants network of retailers had doubled in the UK since Citizen Watch UK took the brand in-house.

Citizen Watch Company acquired Frederique Constant in May, 2016, but the Swiss watchmaker’s business came under the control of Citizen’s UK subsidiary in the second half of 2017.

Citizen Watch UK moved into new premises earlier this year, which has allowed it to give all of the brands in the group — Bulova, Caravelle, Harley, Citizen, Frederique Constant and Alpina — the same level of service and attention.

In his first interview since taking responsibility for the full portfolio of brands, Citizen Watch UK managing director Mark Robinson told WatchPro: “We have doubled the distribution for Frederique Constant since October last year. We have gone from around 30-40 doors to over 80 doors. That is working with the right partners in the right locations to give the brand the visibility we need, and also working with those retailers to ensure that the sell through is there.

“We have been excited and encouraged by the reaction from our partners now that the brands are under one roof. Confidence is a big factor, particularly on the investment side to elevate these brands.”

  • The conversation with Mark Robinson is WatchPro’s Big Interview in the May edition of the magazine.
