Fossil Group to release 100 wearables in 2016 across eight brands

Fossil Group will be pushing forward with wearable technology in a big way at Baselworld with eight of its brands launching tech-enabled product in 2016.

Michael Kors, Emporio Armani, Fossil, Skagen, Diesel, Misfit, Kate Spade New York and Chaps brands will all release wearables in 40 countries and 20 languages in 2016. Many will be revealed at Baselworld, which opens on Thursday.

In total more than 100 wearable products will be released by the end of the year including pieces with displays, display-free designs and fitness trackers.

Fossil Group will support the wearables with unique and branded apps across all brands, three product categories, and two operating systems.

Greg McKelvey, chief strategy and digital officer of Fossil Group, said: “One of the distinct advantages of a fashion company over traditional consumer electronics manufacturers is our product cycle. We demonstrate remarkable speed to market, from development to launch, in order to meet the retail industry’s seasonal new product deadlines.

“The industry has been slow to adapt to growing consumer desires for new styles and options for wearables. With the diversity of major fashion brands we offer, customers will be delighted with the sheer volume of styles and options available when shopping for a wearable that fits their personal style.”

Fossil Group acquired wearable specialist Misfit in November last year which has boosted Fossil Group’s development and production of wearables.
