Fossil Group and BMW sign global licensing agreement for watches and smartwatches

Fossil Group has signed a four year global licensing agreement with BMW for the design, development and distribution of BMW branded watches and smartwatches.

Products are set to hit the shelves in 2019, and will be sold globally in 4000 BMW retail channels and and Fossil Group’s international network of retailers.

No sketches or product images have been shared.

“BMW is one of the most iconic brands in the world,” said Kosta Kartsotis, chairman and chief executive officer of Fossil Group. “We look forward to bringing our watch design expertise and smartwatch capabilities to BMW enthusiasts around the world.”

Little detail of the partnership has been revealed, but the association with BMW could be a significant breakthrough for Fossil Group.

BMW is the world’s 20th biggest brand, according to Forbes magazine’s World’s Most Valuable Brands.

None of the other fashion house brands that Fossil produces watches for make it into the top 100. Rolex is ranked number 72 in the 2018 Forbes list.
