Former GfK man to run Casio’s national accounts business

Casio Watches has hired watch industry specialist and former GfK man Jonathan Hedges as its new national account manager.

Hedges will oversee the Casio brand portfolio within key retailers. He will also be responsible for increasing sales, product ranging, and working with the marketing team to deliver and implement brand messages and all in-store activity, as well as working closely with retailer head offices to ensure the Casio brand maintains and grows its position in the market.

He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role, having previously been account director at market research expert GfK, a company he joined as an account executive in its media division 12 years ago before moving to the retail sales tracking business in 2006.

It was during this time that he was tasked with launching the Watch panel, which has since grown to become a respected and trusted part of the watch industry under his guidance.

Hedges said of his appointment: “I always enjoyed working with the team at Casio in my previous role so when an opportunity came up to move brand-side and it was with Casio, then it was too good an opportunity to turn down. The brand is so strong and vibrant and appeals to such a wide base of consumers, I can see endless opportunities to develop the business further.”

He added: “To be part of a company with a clear vision and drive for the future with so many avenues to explore for continued growth is really exciting and I am looking forward to learning even more about the watch industry from the other side of the fence.”
