Organisers of the inaugural Dubai Watch Week have hailed the event a resounding success.
The five day event, organised by luxury retailer Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, attracted 2,300 public attendees, including a visit by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the royal patron of Dubai Watch Week (DWW), Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – vice chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture).
Seventy six speakers flew in for the event with 790 pre-registering for the week’s special events and discussions. Legendary watchmaker Philippe Dufour also made his first visit to the Middle East for the occasion.
Dubai Watch Week’s official auction house Christie’s raised £71,000 for the humanitarian initiatives of Dubai Cares with the sale of Hublot Vision I and Vision II timepieces.
The show boasted 55 participating brands, three watchmakers and 242 timepieces including those on the 2015 GPHG shortlist.
