The Fleurier Quality Foundation has announced the addition of a fifth quality mark to its already stringent criteria for Swiss watches, outlining that any timepiece now stamped with the Fleurier seal must be 100% Swiss manufactured.
The Fleurier Quality seal has been in existence for almost a decade and its watchmaking certification has become known as one of the most stringent and rigorous for Swiss timepieces.
Now, having been stamped on the back of timepieces by luxury watchmakers including Chopard, Vaucher, Parmigiani Fleurier and Bovet the Fleurier Quality Foundation has added a further criterion to ensure even stricter certification of Swiss-made watches.
All watches now stamped with the mark must be 100% manufactured in Switzerland, a guarantee that the foundation says proves “all the operations – the development, manufacture, assembly, and control of the watch head and its components, have been carried out in Switzerland, with the exception of non-tooled materials”.
In addition to the Quality Fleurier official seal on the back of timepieces, the watches can also be stamped with wording to indicate that the watch is entirely manufactured in Switzerland or 100% manufactured in Switzerland.
The Fleurier Quality Foundation will conduct tests of watches before they are delivered to the final client.
To date, the criteria for obtaining the Fleurier Quality label were:
• Precision, by the submission of each piece to the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC)
• Durability and reliability, by means of the Chronofiable tests
• Precision when worn, by a 24-hour test on the Fleuritest simulator, specially developed for the Foundation
• Technical and aesthetic quality, by means of a validation process designed to ensure that these aspects correspond to the requirements of haute horlogerie.
