Fellows expands with new Birmingham office space

Fellows Auctioneers has moved into new premises in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter as part of an operational expansion.

The new premises with purpose-built office space, at Rabone House, Frederick Street, are situated around the corner from the company’s headquarters on Augusta Street.

While weekly auctions will continue to be held at Augusta Street 18 members of staff from Fellows Watches, Silver, Marketing and Photography departments will move into the new offices.

Managing Director Stephen Whittaker explains, “As Fellows continues to expand both the number of auctions it holds and the service it provides to its clients, we needed to expand our office accommodation for some of our specialist departments, including our photographic team.”

Renovations at the Rabone House, a Georgian town house with Victorian workshops at the rear, have taken nine months. The watch department is now location on the mezzanine which is ideally suited to the cataloguing and photography of more than 7,000 watches each year with floor to ceiling windows offering ample natural light and enough space for 360 degree photography equipment.

Fellows marketing team of four are based in a spacious office, overlooking the watch department, with the entire top floor converted into a meeting room that is available for hire by external organisations.

Whittaker adds: “An imaginative design has produced a spectacular interior for our staff whilst setting a standard externally for other buildings that are being renovated in this important conservation area.”
