Fabergé has launched a new collection of timepieces called Le Palais du Temps, which pay homage to the gardens and architecture of Russia during Peter Carl Fabergé’s time.
The brand says its new designs celebrate the traditions of Fabergé as a watch and clockmaker with painted dials, subtle colourways and hand-worked guilloche enamel, “reminiscent of the ornamental splendro of the great Romanov palaces [and] the heady, romantic flavour of the time spent in lavish rooms and exotic gardens”.
The brand has launched three new versions of its classically-styled Alexei timepiece. First is the Alexei Jardin Secret which, as its name suggests, references a secret palace garden but takes inspiration from the one built by Tsar Nicholas II for his “notoriously shy” wife Alexandra.
The watch features an art dial, painted in vibrant colours on mother-of-pearl, depicting branches with three exotic long-tailed birds, painted in colours reminiscent of traditional Russian cloisonné enamels.
The Alexei Jardin D’Hiver meanwhile features gold rococo scrolls on a matt white or lavender-grey painted dial, designed to recall both Peter Carl Fabergé’s favourite stylistic influence and also the lacy, ornamental ironwork of the Winter Gardens in St Petersburg, where exotic plants and palms could be grown throughout the long Russian winters.
The Alexei Pavillon has a black geometric design on a matt silver-white painted dial, inspired by the construction of the famous Pavilion Hall in the Winter Palace in St Petersburg. The Pavilion hall was built in 1858 and was originally covered by a lattice-like glass roof, echoed in the geometric dial design of the Alexei Pavillon.
The brand has also launched a new Agathon watch, named after Peter Carl Fabergé’s younger brother who was a creative force in the House of Fabergé. Its new Agathon Regulator has guilloché engraving on its skeletonised movement while diamonds have been added to “bring a touch of jewelled Romanov splendour to its sporty elegance”.
Finally the Anastasia collection has been extended by the Anastasia Boudior, the most feminine timepiece in the Fabergé collection, available in four colours including blue and violet. The watch, which is named after the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas and Alexandra, references the famous enamels that ornamented historic Fabergé works of art, watches and clocks. The timepieces also boast contrasting coloured satin straps in hues of burgundy, green, brown and sky blue.
