Diamonds and Earls for limited-edition Backes & Strauss

Just in time for dazzling Christmas spending, Backes & Strauss has unveiled a new diamond-set timepiece titled The Earl of Strauss, in homage to its co-founder Max Strauss.

Adorned with almost 700 ideal-cut round brilliant diamonds totalling 8.47cts, housing a bespoke movement and limited to just 25 pieces, The Earl of Strauss is the fruit of the brand’s diamond heritage and the knowledge of its partner Franck Muller company, which has overseen the development of its movement.

With ‘Strauss’ being the German word for ostrich, the brand’s Ostrich trademark is etched into the balance wheel of the timepiece. Each part – from the round case and dial through the bridge, buckle and Backes & Strauss signature Jewel in the Crown – has been carefully set with round brilliant ideal cut diamonds. The movement of The Earl of Strauss is partly skeleton in a bid to showcase its architectural inspirations.

The company adds: “In an ode to Max Strauss … We crown this watch the ‘Earl of Strauss’; a watch for a true gentleman who enjoys the art of perfection and perfection in art.”
