Corum focusing on Russia as growth market in 2013

Corum has announced the appointment of a brand manager for the Russian market, having recognised the nation as “an area with strong growth potential”.

Corum’s chief executive and partner Antonio Calce has hired Davide Montagne to oversee the Russian market, with the aim of strengthening brand awareness and increasing Corum’s visibility and sales within the country.

Montagna is expected to increase Corum’s position in Russia “significantly”, through the building of a high quality network of retail partners.

He began his new role on January 1, having spent 10 years successfully developing the position of several high-end watch brands in Russia, including Panerai.

The decision was made for Corum to make a push into Russia following a period of “fast movement” for Corum, during which the brand says it has repositioned itself at the forefront of the Swiss watch market.

Corum says its has made considerable investments to enable it to grow in terms of structural organisation, product development and distribution.

Calce said of Montagna’s appointment: “I am really proud to have Davide Montagna on our team to manage the Russian market. He has a great sensitivity to luxury and a thorough understanding of the Russian culture. His professional experience there has proven his ability to create value as well as his perfect knowledge of the brand management strategies. It is a major step for a watch brand to manage distribution directly in Russia.”
