ConnecteDevice offers smallest smartwatch chip

ConnecteDevice introduced the world’s smallest smartwatch chip at Baselworld and offered up its platform as an OEM solution for brands looking to release their own smartwatch quickly.

The smartwatch company claims WatChip is the world’s smallest dedicated smartwatch connected chip, measuring just 7.8 x 5.5 x 1.3mm, and can aid brands looking to develop their own smartwatch through reduced size, costs and time-to-market.

The chip combines Bluetooth Low Energy, motion sensor and power management processor. It can work independently or with ConnecteDevice’s iOS and Android APIs that work with a cloud-based backend.

Henri-Nicolas Olivier, chief executive officer of ConnecteDevice, said: “We put all our expertise and experience acquired during the last three years making long battery-life connected watches into the development of this chip to serve the watch industry with the smallest and best possible component. WatChip allows smart notifications and fitness tracking with super long battery life into watches and wearables.”
