Colourful Junghans automatics conjour images of driving in the innocent 1950s

Junghans has always loved the open road, and drawn inspiration from the history of motor cars.

The German brand’s Meister Driver Automatic picks up both themes, with a lightness in its design and choice of colours that conjours up images of roof-down driving in the innocent era of the 1950s.

“The 1950s saw the dream of travel, a holiday by the sea and an own car come true for many people,” Junghans describes.

“It is the age of the German economic miracle, characterised by a tangible lightness, which is also evident in the new Meister Driver Automatic from Junghans. The newly-acquired mobility is manifested in a general mood of vibrancy – and in colourful automobiles. The colours typical of these decades can be found in the new models of the Meister Driver Automatic,” the company adds.

The colourways include red, sky blue and mint green, in a watch influenced by the designs of dashboards from  historical automobiles

The domed dials with effective polished lacquer and distinctive hour and minute markers are typical for automobile design, as is the calfskin strap with perforated lining leather.

The 38.4mm case houses a J800.1 self-winding movement with a power reserve of up to 38 hours.
