Citizen announces record Q1 and successful Basel

Citizen has announced a record Q1 with sales up nearly 13% up compared to Q1 2011, following an increase in retailer interest in the brand at this year’s BaselWorld watch fair.

Citizen has said its AW12/13 collection generated a lot of interest, with the brand achieving a record number of retail visits to its stand at BaselWorld last month.

It has said its new collection has a “variety [of] stunning new designs and technological advances".

Following on from the success of its Red Arrows collection, which last year sold 14,000 total units, while its limited-edition gift set, complete with cufflinks and a wooden giftbox, sold out in its entire run of 500, the brand announced a new association with the Royal Marines Commandos, creating its Super Tough and Fit for Purpose watch collection of four tough titanium models.

Mark Robinson, brand director for Citizen Watch UK, said: “We are delighted to have been able to showcase our new collection to so many jewellers and journalists. The reaction to the new ranges; World Chronograph A.T, Ciena and the Royal Marines watches was phenomenal.

"With a comprehensive and innovative marketing campaign, we are confident that no other brand will be supporting their retailers like Citizen Eco-Drive. We aim to be simply unstoppable.”

The brand announced as a follow-up to BaselWorld that its Q1 sales were up 13% year-on-year compared to 2011. It is yet to release any further results.
