Chisholm Hunter opens new Glasgow store

Jewellery and watch retailer Chisholm Hunter has opened a new store in Glasgow, taking over a former Watches of Switzerland location and creating 10 new jobs.

The company, which is headquartered in Glasgow, has opened the new store in the city’s Argyll Arcade. The new opening marks the independent multiple’s 23rd retail location.

Chisholm Hunter will use the Argyll Arcade store as a flagship space for its new pre-owned watch range, which specially-selected contemporary and vintage timepieces from the likes of Rolex, Cartier, Omega, and Ulysse Nardin.

The Glasgow opening follows a new Chisholm Hunter store in Kingston, southwest London, and precedes plans for further expansion, including the opening of its flagship store in Bromley, Kent, within the former E.W Payne location. This business also said it is considering potential sites for future openings.

Chisholm Hunter director Tracey Brown said: "Glasgow is renowned for its great style and fashion and we are delighted to be opening another store in the city centre. Now is the perfect time for the launch with the Commonwealth Games approaching and the city attracting visitors from all over the globe. The spotlight is on Glasgow and we aim to show that our customer service and product ranges really are world class.

“We are also very excited about showcasing our very best luxury diamond pieces and the biggest ever range of pre-owned watches, from brands such as Rolex and Cartier. Rolex watches have been sold from this unit since the 1930s so it is great to continue with that tradition."

At present, Chisholm Hunter employs 250 staff and is on track to reach a turnover of £40m this year.
