Carl F. Bucherer makes a splash with line of limited dive watches

Carl F. Bucherer has created a limited edition dive watch to benefit marine biology charity MantaTrust.

Following a relationship that started in 2015 and even extended to Carl F. Bucherer becoming a sponsor to two manta rays, the company has since launched a dive watch which boasts numerous Manta motifs. The limited piece, unveiled in July, will see a portion of the proceeds go towards the MantaTrust.

“In August 2017, a team will spend two weeks out at sea monitoring the manta ray population in the waters surrounding the Maldives to analyze their habitat use and feeding habits” says the company.

The special watch fits itself into the existing Patravi Scubatec collection, alongside the original Scubatec and a slightly smaller white iteration of the piece. The Patravi ScubaTec Manta Trust features an automatic helium release valve, allowing for resurfacing without fear of damage to the watch and dives of up to 500 meters. It also has an automatic, CFB 1950.1 caliber with 25 jewels and a 38 hour power reserve that is housed by a 44.6mm stainless steel case, fitted also with an oversized sporty ceramic bezel and screw down crown to ensure diving requirements are met.

Unlike other members of the ScubaTec family, the face of this watch has a black dial with two mantas engraved onto it; furthermore, the texture of the dial is more of a lined design texture, rather than a mosaic in the other two pieces. The watch boasts a black rubber strap, furthering its sporty appeal. The watch also features a manta on the caseback, engraved with the manta’s own underside markings and number or name.

This 188-piece limited watch debuted in July for the price of $6,400.
