Camden Watch Company launches with High St pop-up

A new watch brand inspired by a shared love of Camden has launched with a pop-up shop on Camden High Street.

Camden Watch Company is the brainchild of AMS Design founders Anneke Short and Jerome Robert who have developed the watch brand to reflect the borough in which they live and work.

AMS Design is an independent watch and jewellery design studio that produces watch designs for companies ranging from the high end to fashion brands.

The pop-up at 26 Camden High Street opened on Monday and will run until Sunday. The pop-up space has been arranged through the Camden Collective, a project supporting creative jobs within Camden Town.

Three launch models, named after bus routes that pass through Camden, are on display at the shop including the No.24 for ladies, No.29 for men and the unisex No.88.

The watches take traditional design cues from pocket watches and the first wire-lug wrist watches but inject modern fonts and colour pops. Casebacks are engraved with an ‘unofficial’ Camden crest.

Short and Robert had expected that visitors to the pop-up would make several trips to the shop before making a purchase, but have been pleased to notice customers buying watches on their first visit.

Once the pop-up closes the Short and Robert expect to sell the brand’s collection through retailers with a number having already approached the pair via social media.
