Billionaire installs on rise for Buben & Zorweg

The continuing rise of Ultra High Net worth customers is driving business in high security top secret safes and ‘private museums’ for Austrian manufacturer Buben & Zorweg.

The company, which produces a number of ready-to-use safes and winders stocked in Harrods in the UK but also carries out incredibly intricate domestic installations, has noticed a rise in demand for what it calls ‘billionaire-style interior design’.

One recent safe installation at London’s most expensive address One Hyde Park, in Knightsbridge, saw the secretive client specify that no member of the installation team would ever discover which floor or apartment they were working in. To meet this stringent requirement the interior of the building’s lift was covered with cardboard during the job.

Another European client commissioned Buben & Zorweg to install three of its 580kg, two-metre high X-007 safes deep under the floor of his palatial European home, insisting they are completely concealed from view. The safes and the floor openings themselves only come into view when the owner remotely activates them, bringing them to floor level. The X-007 can then be activated, with a central 360 degree bullet-proof glass showcase elevatingfrom the body of the safe.

Another customer, to whom budget was clearly an afterthought, requested a customised safe to be fitted alongside a Lamborghini housed in the living room of his city penthouse apartment.
