Bering unveils blue ceramic watch collection

Danish brand Bering has launched a new collection of seven blue ceramic watches which has been in development since the company’s inception.

The colour is omnipresent in the arctic landscape from which all of Bering’s watches take their inspiration and Bering claims to be the first company to bring this shade of scratch-resistant, 100% hyperallergenic ceramic to market.

Lars Gram-Skjoennemann, Bering co-founder, said: “It has taken almost four years to get this product exactly where we want it. The process of creating a coloured ceramic can be complicated. Firstly, our product is scratch-resistant owing to the temperatures that we heat the ceramic to. It is easy enough to create white or black ceramic at this temperature, but to gain the consistency that we require in a coloured ceramic means that we literally line up the pieces as they are created to colour match it for the perfect end result.

“As far as we are aware, we are leading the way with a blue watch collection, and adding this to our black, white and brown ceramic watch offer, undoubtedly gives us one of the most exciting and diverse collections of ceramic watches in the world.”

BERING launched its first coloured ceramic last year, with its brown collection. The blue collection, priced from £229 to £299, will be available in stores this month and the pre-Christmas period supported by advertising in Vogue magazine throughout the month and into 2015.
