Baume & Mercier unveils Clifton 1830 timepieces

Baume & Mercier is set to launch a number of new mechanical timepieces at SIHH next year under the Clifton 1830 collection name, including a sold rose gold self-winding model and two stainless steel automatics.

This new Clifton watch is described as an “exemplary urban watch intended as the most authentic re-edition of the historical model that has inspired the entire Clifton collection”. It is based on timepieces from the brand’s collections dating from the 1950s.

The self-winding 18ct gold version has a 42mm case featuring both satin and polished finishes, with the small seconds counter inset at six o’clock, is set with numerals and indices that are individually applied then meticulously riveted from
behind.

The Clifton hand-wound model features a manufacture calibre adapted for Baume & Mercier by the La Joux-Perret Manufacture, boasting a 90-hour power reserve, transparent case back and is water resistant to 50m.

The stainless steel models have a slightly smaller 41mm case size, a silver-coloured dial with Arabic numerals and index markers and comes with a black alligator strap. Details include blued steel hands, an open case back and Côtes de Genève decorated oscillating weight. The black dial version is presented on a brown alligator strap, with the same case size and small second details.
