Backes & Strauss has launched two new watch collections exclusively at London department store Harrods.
The watch brand has chosen to debut its Renaissance and Victoria collections at the store’s Fine Watch Room, where they are displayed in three cases at the entrance to the room.
The Renaissance collection is a range of ultra-slim timepieces, each 6.1mm in depth. The watches take design cues from the Piccadilly and Regent collections with both women’s and men’s styles, with and without diamonds, incorporating movements just 2.5mm thick. The decorated inner workings of all the watches are visible through sapphire crystal casebacks.
The Victoria collection has been inspired by a 19th century brooch with two linked hearts, the design for which was found in the Backes & Strauss archives. The diamond-set watches have reinterpreted the brooch’s linked hearts into a motif that the brand describes as "repeated continually in a circle of everlasting love, like that of Queen Victoria for her husband Albert".
Backes & Strauss recently partnered with English National Ballet prima ballerine and artistic director Tamara Rojoto to be the brand ambassador for the Victoria Collection.
